Anime Oasis EVO is coming.  The 8th annual Boise Anime Convention promises to be unique even among Anime Oasis.
As the "club room"  project was successful this year with the introduction of the Manga Production Club, we've moving ahead with development of more such club rooms.

The first new club room for EVO will be:

Cosplay Friends Club.

A space just for cosplayers and attendees interested in being cosplayers.
There will be work space for costume construction [including your sewing machine] and a couple of instructional panels on cosplay.  If you're still making your costume at the con, bring it on down to this club room and enjoy the company of other while you finish.
You can meet other cosplayers in hopes of finding someone to join you on stage, or talk about future cosplay ideas.

Basic cosplay supplies for construction/repair will be available for use.

Please note:
Rules for many contests will be changing.  The website will be updating over the next week, we intend to get many new rules up soon, so that you'll have plenty of time to plan.

Not Fun information:

Weapons:  Absolutely no live steel live be allowed or sold at Anime Oasis EVO, please let all metal weapons at home. Real firearms, airsoft guns, paintball guns, etc will not be allowed even if parts are removed.
Please plan on using replicas wooden, plastic or made from other materials.  If you have questions, ask in advance of the convention.

Cosplay:  The rules will be more strict.  We have had issues with people following the PG~PG-13 system.  We will now be moving to a "Recommended 10+" system.  Violations can including disqualification from cosplay to removal from the convention.  Also, all cosplayers will need to enter from the entrance provided, cosplayers taking part in a skit will not be allowed to enter from any other point, including back stage and the audience.  Complete rules will be provided soon.

Battle Cosplay:  Will be returning to it 1-day format.  At the convention, it cannot be given that our chairman will be in top mental condition to run a complex battle cosplay event more than once.  Sign-ups for Battle Cosplay, which will be on Sunday of the convention, will take place BEFORE the convention starts.  There will be an application process, in which application for battle cosplay will be accepted for 2 weeks.  Not everyone will get in.  Groups will be picked based on many factors.  Original characters and characters from non-acceptable sources will not be accepted.  There will be 16 teams of 3 cosplayers.  The sign-up period will be much later this year and will be posted at LEAST 120 days in advance.  These changes will help to focus battle cosplay into a  much more exciting event.  Selected groups will be posted on the website for the months leading up to the convention.

There will be other overhauls, but please don't forget that our purpose is to provide the best convention and rule changes may negatively affect some people, but work to make things better for the general attendance base.
